This page exists to save you time. The Railway button does not draw track, does not insert railway elements and does not open a railway form: it is a shortcut, and it opens the Civil 3D Utilities window.
- What the button does, in one sentence. It hands the call on to
CAPCAD_CIVIL3D_TOOLS— the same command, the same window. - It needs Civil 3D. With Civil 3D not loaded, the window does not even open: the warning Civil 3D not loaded appears and the command ends.
- There is nothing to configure. The command has no options, asks nothing and leaves nothing stored.
- The name is an intention, not a feature. CapCad's railway module — CapRail — is announced in the module showcase, but has no command of its own in this version.
What it does
CAPCAD_RAILWAY has a single line of behaviour: it tells the CAD to run CAPCAD_CIVIL3D_TOOLS.
That command then checks whether Civil 3D is loaded. If it is not, it shows the message Civil 3D not loaded and ends without opening anything — which is the case, always, on plain AutoCAD. If it is, it opens the modeless Civil 3D Utilities window, with four tabs:

Nothing in that window is railway work.
Workflow
If you arrived here through the Railway button, you probably wanted one of these:
- To work a Civil 3D alignment in CapCad — that is exactly what the window does, and the same thing
CAPCAD_CIVIL3D_TOOLSopens. See also the Alignment Manager. - To convert points into COGO points — the Tools tab of that window leads to Coordinate grid, points grid and the British grid.

Remembered between sessions
Nothing. The command neither stores nor reads any preference.
Notes
- The command's name does not describe what it does.
CAPCAD_RAILWAYis a plain shortcut to the Civil 3D window. - On plain AutoCAD the button only shows Civil 3D not loaded. That is the requirement of the window it opens.
- The Civil 3D absence message is in English in every language of the product.
- The same button exists in every country profile's ribbon, on the Roadway panel, under the Templates split button, pointing at the same command.
